Dedupe by content, not by name
FolderManifest hashes every file with SHA-256 and groups byte-for-byte duplicates — across folders, drives, and backups. Review each group, delete with one-click undo, and reclaim the space.

Where duplicates hide
Imports, edits, backups, and “save as” scatter identical files under different names. Content hashing finds them all — no matter what they're called.
01 / PHOTO LIBRARIES
Imports, edits, and backups leave the same photo scattered across folders with different names. Content hashing collapses them into one group you can dedupe in a click.
02 / BACKUP DRIVES
Old backup drives accrete copies of copies. Scan several drives at once and keep exactly one instance of every file — verified by checksum.
03 / PROJECT FOLDERS
Revisions with mangled names hide true duplicates. Hashing ignores names entirely, so the real copies surface — and the unique edits stay untouched.
How it works
1
Select one folder or several — internal disks, external drives, network shares, all in one scan.
2
Multi-threaded scanning hashes files with SHA-256. Size mismatches are skipped early; only true candidates get hashed fully.
3
Duplicate groups appear with paths, sizes, and dates. Keep what you want, remove the rest — with one-click undo.
Why content hashing matters
Two files called report.pdf can be completely different inside; photo_copy.jpg can be identical to the original. SHA-256 reads the actual content, so you only ever remove files that are provably the same.

Questions
Every file is hashed with SHA-256 and grouped by identical content. Names, dates, and locations do not matter — if the checksums match, the files are byte-for-byte identical. If they differ, nothing is flagged.
Yes. Nothing is deleted until you review each duplicate group and choose what to keep. FolderManifest shows sizes, paths, and modification dates first, and every removal is reversible with one-click undo.
Scanning is multi-threaded and size-first: files that cannot possibly match are skipped before hashing. Typical folders finish in seconds to minutes even with tens of thousands of files.
Yes — local disks, USB drives, NAS shares, and cloud storage mounted as drives. Any location Windows can read, FolderManifest can scan.
Absolutely. Select several folders at once — perfect for comparing backup drives against each other or deduplicating a photo library spread across disks.
Yes. The seven-day full-access trial includes duplicate finding, folder compare, integrity monitoring, and the CLI. One $39 lifetime license keeps everything.
